Ghoulish Cider Cocktail

If you like maple, apples, & vodka – then a Ghoulish Cider Cocktail is a perfect addition to your Halloween festivities. It is sweet and can be served as a dessert martini if you choose.  One key substitution you can make, is substituting maple syrup for simple syrup – it depends on your personal preference.  I actually used an agave and maple syrup blend, which you can find at Trader Joe’s, and it worked very well.  I also used no sugar added apple cider – again, you can choose to use sweetened or unsweetened apple cider. This cocktail is easy to drink, but one is probably sufficient, since it is on the sweeter side.

Ingredient List
(Makes 1 Cocktail)
Fine black sanding sugar
1 lady or gala apple, chopped
½ lime, cut into wedges
½ - 1 oz of maple syrup (sweeten depending on your preference)
1 oz apple cider
2 oz vodka
Ice
Club soda

Method
Moisten the rim of a martini glass with water. Place sanding sugar in a saucer and dip rim of a glass in sanding sugar to coat; set aside.

In a cocktail shaker, muddle together apple cubes and lime wedges. Add syrup, cider, and vodka; fill with ice.   Cover and shake until well combined. Strain into prepared martini glass; top with club soda.

Variations
You can choose to substitute maple syrup for simple syrup, if you are not a fan of maple.

Playlist
If you choose to have a Halloween cocktail party, I have some great music suggestions for your ghoulish soiree:
1)  I Put A Spell On You - Nina Simone
2)  Hell - The Squirrel Nut Zippers
3)  Alfred Hitchcock Theme Song
4)  Love Potion #9 - The Searchers
5)  Superstition - Stevie Wonder

A Recipe to Remember?
